ESPN’s Charles Barkley pokes fun at SEC fan base

It’s no secret that people down south take their college football seriously.

TNT analyst and eleven-time NBA all-star Charles Barkley made light of the subject when he appeared on the “Russillo & Kanell” radio show. He joined the show mainly to talk basketball, but did take a little time to speak on the SEC fan bases.

One of the hosts of the show, Kanell, formerly played quarterback for Florida State. Kanell has always publicly despised the SEC, and took time to ask Barkley what his thoughts were on the conference.

“I think that the SEC kind of makes you hate it because the fans are so obnoxious,” said Barkley, via SDS. “I can understand why people don’t like the SEC. I think clearly its by far the best football conference in the world and I think Danny [Kanell] will admit that. The fans are the most obnoxious people — Alabama fans are the worst. Then you factor in Georgia fans — they’re awful — Florida, LSU fans.”

Barkley ended his broadcast appearance by poking a little fun at Kanell’s home school, saying that Florida State “plays in a girl’s conference.”

Ouch. Score another one for the Round Mound of Rebound.
