Manchester United cancels final game due to ‘suspicious package’

Manchester United’s final match of the English Premier League season against Bournemouth has been abandoned. Officials made the decision to cancel the match after a suspicious package was found in the stands at Old Trafford.

Thirty minutes prior to kickoff, the stadium was evacuated.

It was initially believed that there would simply be a 45-minute delay, but officials erred on the side of caution.

There is currently no word on when, or if, the game will be rescheduled.

With Champions League implications at stake, Manchester United will likely push to have the game rescheduled. Of course, if Manchester City tops Swansea on Sunday, fourth-place will be out of reach for the Reds and their Champions League dreams will be over.
