Report: James Cook reclassifies to 2018

One of the top running back recruits in the nation has reclassified to the Class of 2018. According to 247 Sports, James Cook, the brother of Florida State star Dalvin Cook, made the decision after learning he would not be eligible to play his senior year in high school.

“Cook, who’s birthday September 25, is already 16 so he would age out and not be allowed to play his senior season under FHSAA rules,” the report reads.

“We know Cook wouldn’t be able to play his senior year and we know the type of student-athlete he is so we were like why wait?,” Miami/Central coach Roland Smith said. “Now he can get out of here earlier and get to college sooner.”

Cook is currently committed to Florida State, but is also reportedly still considering Miami, Clemson, Michigan, USC and Texas.

Whichever school lands James Cook will be receiving one of the nation’s top backs.
