WR Deionte Gaines not returning to Colorado State, will transfer

In less than surprising news, Colorado State Rams wide receiver Deionte Gaines officially announced he will be transferring from the program. The news comes after Rams head coach Mike Bobo confirmed during spring that Gaines was not currently a member of the team.

Gaines took to social media to announce his decision, though he did not indicate any potential landing spots.

“I’d like to start this off by saying I appreciate the love and hospitality of Fort Collins. Also I’d like to thank CSU and Coach Bobo for allowing me to be a student and a athlete at Colorado State,” Gaines wrote on his Instagram account.

“I’m very thankful for the people I’ve met and the friendships I’ve gained while being here, I’ll miss you guys. Thank you to all of my brothers on the team for always treating me like a brother since I got here. I’ll always be a Ram no matter where I go! All things must come to an end and unfortunately, I will not be attending CSU next year and will be continuing my football career elsewhere.”

In the past two seasons at Colorado State, Gaines has recorded 22 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown. The 5-foot-8, 180-pounder also added 53 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
