5 NFL teams that should sign Zach Mettenberger

On Monday morning, the Tennessee Titans announced the release of backup quarterback Zach Mettenberger. After drafting Marcus Mariota in 2015 and signing veteran Matt Cassel this offseason, it was clear that Mettenberger’s chances of becoming an NFL starter hinged on landing a new team.

Initially, there was a belief that teams could be interested in sending a late-round pick to the Titans for Mettenberger thanks to a weak quarterback market.

But after finding no trade partners, the Titans released Mettenberger outright and now he heads to the waiver wire looking for a new home.

Despite going 0-10 as a starter and throwing just 12 career touchdowns to 14 interceptions, many are intrigued by Mettenberger’s measurables and strong arm. With a fresh new start, there is a chance he could one day develop into a starter.

So which NFL teams would be the best fit for Mettenberger and who should give him a chance to revive his career? Let’s take a look at the five teams that could add Mettenberger to their roster.
