Andrew Luck already impressed with rookie center Ryan Kelly

For years, quarterback Peyton Manning and center Jeff Saturday had a relationship that allowed the Indianapolis Colts offense to reach some incredible heights. Moving forward, the Colts are hoping that star quarterback Andrew Luck and 2016 first-round pick Ryan Kelly will be able to build that same chemistry.

So far, it seems like the duo is off to a great start.

Luck and Kelly have actually become locker mates and the signal-caller has been very impressed with what he has seen from the rookie center during OTAs.

“New locker mate Ryan right here, he’s been great,” Luck said, via The Score. “He’s smart. He’s conscientious. He’s tough. I think he’s got a little ornery in him. He’s a little bit mean, which is great.

“It’s nice to be locker buddies with Ryan. He’s gone out there and really been impressive in the couple days of team stuff and even last week during the sort of the Phase II stuff and on the field stuff.”

Kelly is also dedicated to building his relationship with his new quarterback.

“You can’t just go out on the field every day and just expect that relationship to grow,” Kelly told the Colts’ website. “So just the little things: If it’s eating lunch with him or eating breakfast with him in the chow hall, those things keep building relationships, and I think certainly the more time we work together, the better off we’re going to be.”

The Colts have taken a step back in recent seasons — mainly due to the lack of production for Andrew Luck — so hopefully this quarterback/center relationship will continue to develop as the Colts look to return to glory.
