Every MMA fan wants to know when former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will make her return to the Octagon. Despite previously being confident that she would return in November, president Dana White now does not seem sure about when the star will make her long-awaited return.
The date initially targeted for Rousey’s comeback fight was Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden for UFC 205.
UFC 205 will mark the promotion’s debut in the state of New York, after mixed martial arts was finally legalized earlier this year, and Rousey would bring some much needed star power to the show. However, White is not sure whether the former champ will be ready in time to fight at the event.
“She has as much time off as she wants or needs. Obviously, I would love her to come back sooner than later so we’ll see how that plays out but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to roll into New York with Ronda but I just don’t know if she’s going to be ready,” White said on “The Michael Kay Show.”
White has said that the bantamweight division is doing very well without Ronda Rousey, but he alluded to her being the marquee ticket for the UFC at this point.
“When she announces she’s going to be back, it’s going to be big,” White said.
I do not think any could disagree with White on that assumption.
