Doug Pederson: Sam Bradford the No. 1 guy

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded for the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to target one of the top signal-callers, veteran Sam Bradford was unhappy and reportedly asked for a trade.

However, now that the dust has settled, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson is hoping to make the situation between his two quarterbacks a lot better.

As far as Pederson is concerned, Sam Bradford is the team’s starter entering the season and he wants the veteran to avoid continuously looking over his shoulder at No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz.

“My feelings haven’t changed,” Pederson said, via Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “He’s my guy. He’s the No. 1 guy. I just want him to embrace that. … I expect Sam to not look over his shoulder. I expect Sam to look forward. … That is the message I gave him.”

During the early offseason workouts, Wentz has been working with the third-team offense.

And if Pederson’s comments are any indication, that should remain the plan moving forward unless Bradford gets injured or Wentz completely blows everyone away and shows he is ready to step onto an NFL field faster than anyone would have imagined.
