Notre Dame still pays Charlie Weis more than Brian Kelly

Charlie Weis scored big with his buyout from Notre Dame. In fact, the former Fighting Irish head coach remains one of the highest paid members of the athletic department despite not being with the program since 2009.

Notre Dame’s latest tax returns revealed that Weis was paid more than current head coach Brian Kelly in 2014.

Weis racked in more than $2 million, while Kelly earned $1.62 million, according to USA Today. Per the report, Weis was paid more than all but two employees at the university.

In 2015, it is believed that Weis earned an additional $2 million.

Since being fired, Weis has racked in a whopping $16.9 million from the university. It’s safe to say that Notre Dame would like to put this behind them as soon as possible.
