Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor punched Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista and sparked a bench-clearing brawl during Sunday’s game. It should come as no surprise that the aggressor in the situation was suspended for eight games.
MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported that a league source had informed of his the suspension length. The MLB has yet to make an official announcement, but it is expected to come by the end of the day.

Heyman also reported that Rougned Odor plans to appeal the suspension on the grounds that Bautista deliberately tried to take him out with a dirty slide that started the confrontation. He will likely lose that appeal, but you cannot blame him for trying.
The Rangers are currently second in the AL West with a 22-17 record.
Odor’s absence would last through the rest of their series with the Oakland A’s and then through series with the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
