Undrafted Titans player ‘retires’ after one week with team

College football players dream of an opportunity to play in the NFL. For undrafted cornerback Morgan Burns of Kansas State, that opportunity came from the Tennessee Titans.

However, just one week after receiving a deal from the team after rookie minicamp, Burns is quitting the game.

According to his agent, Burns is “retiring” to pursue other ventures.

“Morgan Burns will be retiring from the NFL today to pursue a career in ministry,” agent Brandon Smart told Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com. “He appreciates the opportunity the Titans gave him.”

That’s a nice way to spin it.

You have to respect Burns for moving onto something else after giving the NFL a shot, but it’s only fair to really acknowledge he decided football wasn’t for him after going through rookie minicamp and seeing the uphill battle he’d face to make the roster.
