Warriors play prank on assistant coach Luke Walton

Luke Walton was recently hired to be the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, but he is still hammering out the end of the season as an assistant for the Golden State Warriors. After last night’s NBA Draft Lottery, the team decided to play a joke on their coach.

The Lakers drew the second-overall pick in June’s draft during the lottery Tuesday night. The team had the second-best odds to land the top pick in the draft, so they were pretty much guaranteed to land a top pick.

However, Warriors’ Public Relations man Raymond Ridder decided to pull a mean prank on Walton. He texted him and said that they had drawn the fourth-overall pick, meaning they would have to forfeit their first-rounder.

Fret not, Lakers fans. Your favorite team did end up with the second pick in the draft and they have the chance to select either LSU star Ben Simmons or Duke sensation Brandon Ingram.

The 2016 NBA Draft airs live on ESPN on June 23.
