Over the last few months, ESPN has been getting professional wrestling, namely WWE, more involved with their coverage with a weekly segment hosted by former WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman.
Despite push-back from some fans, ESPN is getting even more involved as the most recognizable WWE superstar, John Cena, will host the 2016 ESPYs later this summer.
Cena made the announcement on his Twitter account and he seems pretty excited for the opportunity.
Honored and excited to host the 2016 @ESPYS. Wednesday, July 13 will be a date to remember, I promise that. pic.twitter.com/W86wQtgiIP

Many will probably push back with ESPN’s decision to have a professional wrestler host a sports awards show. However, John Cena, who is hosting the reality game show “American Grit,” will not disappoint as he is one of the more comical and entertaining talkers in the WWE today.
The ESPYs will air live on ESPN on Wednesday, July 13.
