Ever since Jose Bautista did his disrespectful bat flip during the ALDS last year, he has been Public Enemy No. 1 with the Texas Rangers. After Rougned Odor cracked Bautista in the jaw on Sunday, I guess you could call him Texas’ favorite son.
That was pretty apparent on Wednesday when Heim Barbecue, a local food truck that will soon open a restaurant location in Dallas, offered Odor free food for life. Owner Travis Heim said that he and his restaurant wanted to give Odor the offer since he did what every Ranger fan has been wanting to do for months.
“We just thought it would be a funny thing if we Rougie free food because he wasn’t the only one who wanted to punch Bautista after last year,” Heim told NBC 5 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. “So you know, it’s kind of a justice, a little bit.”
Rougned Odor was hit with an eight-game suspension and a $5,000 fine for punching Bautista, so he is going to need a little help eating over the next few weeks.
However, free food is not the only thing he has been honored with.
The Rangers’ minor-league affiliate, the Frisco Roughriders, introduced Rougie’s Red PUNCH, an alcoholic drink sold at $5.15, to commemorate the date of the infamous brawl.
