The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels have not made the NCAA Tournament since 2013 and they are looking to make it back in 2017. First-year head coach Marvin Menzies has already gotten off to a pretty good start by adding some talented recruits for the upcoming season.
The Rebels added transfers Uche Ofoegbu and Jordan Johnson while signing Djordjije Sljivancanin to a national letter of intent. Both Ofoegbu and Sljivancanin will be a part of the team this year, while Johnson will have to sit out the 2016-17 season.
Ofoegbu, a 6-foot-4 guard, is a graduate transfer from San Francisco. He averaged 9.2 points and shot 50 percent last season.
Johnson, a 5-9 guard, transfers from Milwaukee, where he averaged 12.5 points and 8.1 assists per game. Slijivancanin, a 6-10 forward from Serbia, spent part of the last year at IMG Academy.
Menzies certainly has some good talents on his side for the next few seasons. If they play their cards right, the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels could be back at the top of the country in basketball very soon.
