Phil Steele is one of the brightest minds in the sports media world. Every year, Steele releases one of the most well-respected college football previews. Prior to the release of the 2016 edition, Steele has named the top wide receiver and running back groups in the nation.
Steele named six wide receiver/tight end groups — two a piece from the SEC, ACC and Pac-12.
My computers top 6 receiving corps (WR & TE) in Alphabetical order.
Alabama, Clemson, Florida St, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC

The same conferences are represented when discussing the top running back groups.
Working on top RB units right now. Top 5 are LSU, Stanford, Oregon, Georgia and Florida St but a lot of talented RB's are back this year

Steele named some of the top teams in the nation, so it really comes as no surprise.
After all, if you want to have success at any level, you need to put up points. What better way to do that than to have a stud pass-catcher or a running back who can carry the load for your offense?
We could very well see some of these teams competing for the College Football Playoff this season.
