Jaylon Tate rejoins Illinois after charges are dropped

The Illinois Fighting Illini are hoping to return to prominence. In order to do that, they will need everyone to put their best effort forward.. The return of guard Jaylon Tate should be a big help as well.

Tate had been suspended from the team after he has been charged with misdemeanor battery for hitting a woman in March. However, those charges were dropped and athletic director Josh Whitman said he had been reinstated after showing “exceptional character during this unfortunate situation.”

Whitman said that Kendrick Nunn’s suspension from the team is still in place after he plead guilty to misdemeanor domestic battery and received probation earlier this week. He is also accused of hitting a woman earlier this year.

The Fighting Illini got Leron Black for the upcoming season after pleading guilty to aggravated assault charges, but he will sit out the first six games. During the 2015-16 season, Jaylon Tate averaged 2.6 assists and 1.9 points per game, but he is expected to be a bigger part of their team this year.
