The Miami Hurricanes have added one of the top athletes in the Class of 2017, as four-star recruit DeeJay Dallas announced his commitment to the program on Saturday.
“For the next four years I plan on attending the University of Miami,’’ Dallas announced, , via the Miami Herald. “I chose Miami because I really like the environment down there [and] I really like the coaching staff.”
According to Dallas’ coach at Glynn Academy, the 5-foot-10, 190-pounder made the decision to commit to Miami in large part because of new head coach Mark Richt. Considering Dallas was previously committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, the move makes sense.
“I’ve had a couple of my kids play for Coach Richt and he is the type of guy that you want your son to play for,” Hidalgo said. “[Richt’s] relationship with DeeJay has been tremendously important during his recruitment.”
Richt was happy to land the Brunswick, Georgia native.
Dallas has the ability to play on both sides of the ball, but the early belief is he will begin his collegiate career at wide receiver.
DeeJay Dallas also held offers from Alabama, Michigan, Georgia Tech, and Oregon.
