Preakness 2016: Two horses die after undercard races

The 141st running of the Preakness Stakes takes place on Saturday evening. Unfortunately, there has been a grim cloud cast over Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore Maryland during the undercard races.

According to reports, two horses have died following during the early races this afternoon.

Homeboykris was the winner of the first race at Pimlico on Saturday, before collapsing after a photo-op in the winner’s circle. Per the report, Homeboykris is believed to have suffered a cardiovascular collapse after the race. Homeboykris was nine years old.

The other horse to die on Saturday was Pramedya.

During the fourth race, Pramedya suffered a broken left-front cannon bone. The jockey, Daniel Centeno, tumbled to the turf and was taken to the local hospital with a broken clavicle. Pramedya had to be euthanized on the track.
