Jason Pierre signs with Syracuse after UNC academics issue

Three-star defensive back Jason Pierre was not deemed academically ineligible to enroll at the University of North Carolina, but he will still be suiting up in the ACC.

Syracuse announced this weekend that Pierre is now officially a member of the football team. Pierre will be eligible to play immediately this season, with all four years of eligibility remaining since he never took a class at North Carolina.

Pierre is finally ready to get his football career underway.

“They talked to me about the real meaning of life and what comes with it and I just feel deeply inside I can be a better man in life and become successful,” Pierre told the Syracuse Post-Standard.

On top of UNC and Syracuse, Pierre had interest from a number of top programs including Miami, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
