The end goal for every team in the FBS, whether you are Alabama or South Alabama, is to make the College Football Playoff.
We are heading into the third year of the new national championship season and ESPN thinks there are some teams that have no shot of making the CFP.
Realistically, only about 50 teams have a chance to make the playoff this year as the Power 5 conferences and Notre Dame are the only real teams that have that chance. E
SPN released a list of seven teams they believe don’t have a shot at making the playoff this year and a few of them may surprise you.
The seven teams are:
- Ohio State
- Iowa
- Michigan State
- Ole Miss
- North Carolina
- TCU
- USC
USC probably isn’t that surprising here as they have one of the toughest schedules in the country this year. They even open the season against Alabama at AT&T Stadium.
Ole Miss plays in arguably the toughest division in the country in the SEC West and they lost three superstars in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft. They also may have to deal with some allegations in the very near future with the NCAA.
For Ohio State, the Buckeyes lost 15 players to the NFL and will have to try and replace their core group of guys going into the season.
The College Football Playoff is still a good while away and we could see any one of those seven teams playing for the national title.
