Przemek Karnowski returning to Gonzaga for fifth season

The Gonzaga Bulldogs received some good news on Tuesday, as Polish big man Przemek Karnowski announced he would be returning to the team for a fifth season after receiving a medical redshirt waiver granted by the NCAA.

The 7-foot-1 Karnowski dealt with a back injury last season which limited him to just five games.

“I’m excited to be coming back,” Karnowski said in a statement. “After talking with the coaches, my parents and the team, I decided this was the best decision for me. I still have a ways to go with my rehab, but I’m staying positive about the upcoming season.”

As a junior last season, Karnowski averaged 10.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

With Karnowski returning and a number of experienced players on the roster, Mark Few’s squad should once again be the runaway favorite in the West Coast Conference while attempting to qualify for yet another appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
