Report: Tyler Eifert ‘could miss first couple of games of season’

|

Tyler Eifert and the Cincinnati Bengals are likely no longer fans of the Pro Bowl, after the team’s star tight end suffered an injury during the all-star game which could cost him the first few games of 2016.

Eifert underwent ankle surgery on Tuesday for an injury suffered during the Pro Bowl.

Initially, the hope was that Eifert could be ready to go by the beginning of the season. However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it looks like the Bengals tight end “could miss the first couple of games of the season.”

Of course, this is the worst case scenario.

The injury was to “repair a loose ligament on the side of his foot,” per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Eifert really came into his own last season and proved he is one of the top pass catching threats at his position. Unfortunately, the Bengals will likely have to wait until at least a month into the season before Eifert is back to 100 percent and his old self on the field.
