Vin Scully declines invitation to call MLB All-Star Game

Vin Scully is one of the most legendary voices in all of sports radio broadcasting, but his career will be coming to a close at the conclusion of the 2016 MLB season. He wants to take his last year easy as he declined FOX Sports’ invitation to call the All-Star Game this year.

Executive vice president of production and operations at FOX Brad Zager spoke with Scully last week about him possibly helping them out with the game this year. He said that Scully declined the invitation despite them being willing to work with him in any way possible.

“I told him, ‘Look, everyone would love to have you as part of the All Star Game,’” Zager said. “Anything you would want to do, we will make it happen.”

If there was anyone at FOX that was going to convince Scully, it was Zager. He worked as his producer from 2004 to 2012 for both Prime Ticket and KCAL-TV’s coverage of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This is a disappointment for all baseball fans everywhere. However, if they want the pleasure to hear Vin Scully one last time, all they have to do is tune into any Dodgers’ game.
