Michigan football’s Florida trip cost nearly $350,000

The Michigan football program kicked off spring practices for the 2016 season with a road trip to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Because the trip brought the Big Ten school into SEC territory and a recruiting hotbed, there was plenty of opposition. But the trip went on as planned.

However, on Friday, there was more outrage regarding Michigan’s trip when it was revealed via an open records request from Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News that the trip cost nearly $350,000.

Chengelis shared a full breakdown of the costly trip:

$146,912 of the money went directly to IMG Academy, so you know they won’t be complaining about hosting the Wolverines any time soon. It also wouldn’t be a surprise to see the school welcome Michigan back to campus in the future if the NCAA allows.
