Report: Rutgers to play Maryland at Yankee Stadium in 2017

There had been reports swirling about a potential Rutgers football game at Yankee Stadium in 2017. On Friday, reports surfaced that the Scarlet Knights will indeed be playing at the stadium on Nov. 4, 2017.

Per the reports, Rutgers will be “hosting” the Maryland Terrapins.

“There were discussions by the previous administration with the Yankees and an agreement in principle was reached,” athletic director Pat Hobbs told NJ.com. “I’m reviewing those terms and we’ll announce our intention in due course.

“There are a tremendous amount of Rutgers alums who work here in the city. It’s important for our relationship if we can be with an iconic organization like the Yankees. They have a lot of the history that we would like to start building at Rutgers.”

2017 will mark the fourth time Rutgers has played at Yankee Stadium.
