As of early Tuesday, 3-star cornerback Javelin Guidry has officially become a hard commit to Houston Cougars. He took to Twitter to announce his commitment late last week.

Houston is among a number of teams to put in an offer for Guidry and one of the few from his home state to offer him a scholarship. The cornerback received offers from Purdue, Arizona State, Iowa State, Navy, Oregon State, SMU, Tulane and Washington State as well.
Javelin Guidry had expressed interest in TCU and UT as well, implying that playing college football close to home may have been a priority for the young player. According to to 247 sports, neither school had offered him a scholarship at this time, though.
Guidry, recruited by the Cougars’ Jason Washington, will graduate high school in the fall of next year. The 5’9.5, 180 lb cornerback currently resides in Cedar Park, TX and will be entering his third season with the Timberwolves.
