Hugh Freeze defends Ole Miss amid NCAA allegations

The Ole Miss Rebels are in a pretty bad way at this point with a number of allegations being handed down from the NCAA. Despite that, head coach Hugh Freeze is trying to defend his team in any way he can.

While a number of the alleged violations came while Houston Nutt was with the team, a majority of them (nine) have come under Freeze’s watch. However, he spoke with Gridiron Now SEC writer Tony Barnhart and defended himself and the team pretty vehemently Monday night.

There is a difference between making mistakes and cheating,” Freeze said. “Did we make mistakes? Yes, we did, and we’ve taken action. We’re not perfect.

“But I’m not going to cheat. I’m not. I’ll lose but I’m not going to cheat.”

It certainly seems like Hugh Freeze is tired of all the recent allegations against his team and he wants to move past this situation going into the 2016 season. However, it may be best if he cooperates with the NCAA in whatever way they ask him to if he wants to get out of this unscathed.
