Randall Cobb won’t wear on-field microphone anymore

The Green Bay Packers certainly don’t seem to like the on-field microphones used to give fans an in-depth look into the game. Wide receiver Randall Cobb spoke out recently and said that he won’t wear them anymore.

During the Packers’ Divisional Round loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Cobb went down with a punctured lung. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has never been a fan of the microphones, blamed the injury on the microphone.

Cobb, while he cannot prove this is the case, seems to side with Rodgers on his theory. He claimed he would never wear a microphone in-game again.

The wide receiver later explained his reasoning behind it when speaking with ESPN on the subject matter.

“If we were going on a Super Bowl run and we had that live feed during the game, it’s pretty cool to look back and hear what you’re thinking and hear what you’re talking about,” Cobb said. “It’s pretty cool in that instance, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk.”

Players on a playoff team are usually mic’d up by NFL Films if they have a chance of making a run to the Super Bowl so they could put together a package of their run. However, if the Packers do make a run at the Lombardi Trophy this year, you can almost guarantee Randall Cobb will be one of the many players refusing to wear a microphone.
