After the passing of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, who transcended the sports world, Sports Illustrated announced he would grace the cover of this week’s magazine to honor his life.

This marks the 40th time that Ali has graced the cover of the magazine, second-most in history behind only Michael Jordan.
It’s a fitting tribute to the man who has touched so many lives.
