To say that the Jacksonville Jaguars have had a pretty good offseason would be an understatement. They picked up some big players in free agency and had arguably the best draft class of any team in the NFL, so wide receiver Allen Hurns’s comments about them having hopes are likely justified.
Hurns, who is entering his third year in Jacksonville, recently signed a four-year, $40 million contract extension. He spoke with Alex Marvez and Zig Fracassi during an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio and seemed pretty excited for what the team can do this year.
“Of course, I’m going to feel that way, just because of the team we have and also the guys that we brought in,” Hurns said when asked if he feels the Jaguars are the team to beat in the AFC South. “It’s been a very exciting offseason, from free agency to the draft. And, also, the guys we got coming back. There’s been a lot of talk, as far as all the hype, but we know with that there’s expectations, but nobody’s expectations exceed ours.”
The Jags added players like running back Chris Ivory and safety Tashaun Gipson in free agency, while having a stacked draft class that included Jalen Ramsey, Myles Jack, and Sheldon Day. It is hard to argue with Allen Hurns about the team’s chances this year.
The Jaguars open the 2016 season on September 11 when they host the Green Bay Packers.
