NCAA baseball tournament 2016: Arizona wins Lafayette Regional

The Arizona Wildcats were looking to get back on top of the college baseball world as they entered the 2016 NCAA baseball tournament as the second seed in the Lafayette Regional. They had a long road to the regional title, but they were able to pick up the big win on Monday.

The Wildcats down the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns for the second time on Monday to move to their fourth Super Regional appearance in team history. It is their first appearance in the round since winning the national championship in 2012.

The Wildcats used a pair of big wins over the Ragin’ Cajuns to win the regional title. The first was a 3-1 small-ball victory with the second being just as entertaining with Arizona pulling out the win 6-3.

They will now move on to the Super Regional to face off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. That series begins on Friday, June 10 and will be played in Starkville.
