Monday morning, Brock Lesnar revealed that he will face veteran heavyweight Mark Hunt in his return to the Octagon at UFC 200. Hunt, who last fought Frank Mir at UFC Fight Night in March, seems ready to face off against the former heavyweight champion.
Hunt spoke with FOX Sports and didn’t seem too happy about Lesnar returning after five years away from MMA. He talked about how he realizes Lesnar was sick, but he is ready to show that he is deserving of a top spot in the division.
“Coming back after five years? I don’t know,” Hunt said. “He says he’s got an itch to scratch — well, I’ve got the scratcher for him. If you want to get an itch scratched in this sport, I’ve got it for you. In the end, I feel he should have just stayed retired but if you want to get into a real fight, I can give you an opponent.”
As for the Beast Incarnate’s chances in the fight, Mark Hunt believes Lesnar doesn’t really stand a chance against him.
“I don’t think he’s going to make it out of the first round to be honest. If he comes charging — please come charging — I’ve got the scratcher for you in the first round,” Hunt said.
“I’ll make sure he understands that he should have stayed retired. This is a sport for real fighters.”
Hunt has won his last two fights by knockout with his most recent being over Mir, who has split two fights with Lesnar in the past. This certainly seems to be building up to be one hell of a fight.
The two take to the Octagon on July 9 at UFC 200 in Las Vegas
