Notre Dame’s Corey Robinson quits football due to concussions

Notre Dame wide receiver Corey Robinson, the son of NBA legend David Robinson, has decided to walk away from the Fighting Irish football program.

Robinson announced his decision on Wednesday, citing multiple concussions for his decision to call it quits.

“I couldn’t have come to this decision without the incredible support from so many within the Notre Dame football program,” Robinson said in a statement. “I am extremely thankful to Coach Kelly and his staff for the life-changing opportunity to play football at the greatest University in the world. I will continue to help our team as a student assistant and look forward to a great senior year.”

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly also released a statement on Robinson’s departure.

Last season, while being limited due to injuries and concussions, Robinson hauled in just 16 catches for 200 yards.
