According to reports, Sweet was charged with driving under the influence/driving while ability impaired by drugs or alcohol and driving a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or more.
Sweet was a projected starter at strong safety for the Rams entering this season.
Sweet did not see the field in 2013 after redshirting his freshman season, before making appearances in 14 games the last two seasons in limited action. As a reserve, Sweet has totaled just 16 tackles.
There is no word on what type of punishment Sweet will receive from the program.
Colorado State opens its 2016 campaign on Sept. 2 against in-state rival Colorado at home.
