Police release footage of Derek Willis’s public intoxication arrest

|

Last week, Kentucky forward Derek Willis was arrested for public intoxication. He was released on a minimal bond and it doesn’t look like he will suffer any consequences from the Wildcats.

On Thursday, Cincinnati police released dash cam footage from Willis’s arrest and you would have thought something much more serious was going on. When police pulled up on the rising senior, he was sprawled out on the ground, nearly unconscious.

It looked like he was hanging out the driver’s side of the car, so he could have been driving at some point. That is pretty scary to think about since Willis seemed to be way over the legal limit and very incoherent.

Luckily for him, Derek Willis wasn’t charged with anything major and was not given any DUI charges.

Willis should have a big impact for the Wildcats this year. Last year, he averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game during the 2015-16 season.
