Draymond Green was a Michigan State Spartans basketball star before going on to be a key contributor of the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors. On Thursday night, Green returns from his one-game suspension with hopes of helping his team clinch a second-straight league title.
But before Green was a basketball star, he attempted to be a part of the Spartans football program.
That experiment was a gigantic failure.
“It’s never as easy as it looks,” Green told Hugh Bernreuter of MLive.com after his attempt to play. “I thought I knew what I was doing, until I got jammed at the line of scrimmage. It’s not easy. It’s like basketball. It looks easy, but it’s not.”
Green played tight end for the Spartans in the 2011 Michigan State spring football game, and it was not pretty.
The Big Ten Network unearthed the footage, which you can see below in honor of Throwback Thursday.

For the sake of Warriors fans, let’s hope he performs better on the court tonight.
