Von Miller says there’s ‘no chance’ he will play under franchise tag

The Denver Broncos and star linebacker Von Miller have hit a major snag in contract discussions. The two teams remain far apart regarding the structure of the deal, and there is a belief that the reigning Super Bowl MVP could sit out the 2016-17 season if a long-term deal is not reached.

Miller added some validity to that belief in a recent post on social media.

In an Instagram post, Miller wrote, “I love my teammates, coaches, and my fans but there is ‘No Chance’ I play the 2016 season under the Franchise tag.”

Miller is reportedly seeking more than $60 million in guaranteed money. Considering the Philadelphia Eagles and star defensive tackle Fletcher Cox just reached a deal that includes $63 million, Miller has a reason to stand firm on his beliefs.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out and whether the Broncos will have their top defensive player on the field when the season begins.
