Sean Maguire putting weight on his ankle

The Florida State Seminoles return all 11 members of their offense from last year for the 2016 season. One of those players in quarterback Sean Maguire, but he is dealing with an ankle injury at this point of the summer.

Maguire shared playing time with Everett Golson last season and eventually took over near the end of the year. In their Peach Bowl match-up against Houston, Maguire suffered a broken ankle, which he played on, and got surgery following the season.

It looks like he is slowly improving right now and he should be ready to go for camp. Head coach Jimbo Fisher told ESPN that the senior quarterback is able to put weight on his ankle and should be back throwing very soon.

He should compete with redshirt freshman Deandre Francois for the starting spot in camp and ahead of the 2016 season. Maguire certainly has the upperhand as he has some pretty good experience over the last few years.

In 2015, Sean Maguire played in eight games, starting five, and threw for 1,520 yards and 11 touchdowns. It should be interesting to see what he does to win the starting job over the next few months.

The Seminoles open the 2016 season on Sept. 5 when they face off against Ole Miss in Orlando at Camping World Stadium.
