Former UFC heavyweight champion and current member of the WWE roster Brock Lesnar makes his return to the Octagon in a one-off fight against veteran heavyweight Mark Hunt at UFC 200. It is going to be an exciting night for the company, but it also looks like they are not hiding the fact that he works for one of their biggest rivals in the sports entertainment business.
UFC recently released a promo video for the upcoming show on July 9 and they touted The Beast as a “WWE Superstar,” which is a huge deal since President Dana White has never really had a good relationship with professional wrestlers or Vince McMahon. This just shows that money means everything and it is all about what is, as Triple H would say, “best for business.”
The WWE and UFC both seem to be getting over their rivalry that has grown over the last half-decade and they are willing to do business with each other. In exchange for Brock Lesnar’s services and free promotion on WWE events, UFC is likely going to lend the company a few of their fighters and give their biggest show of the summer, August’s Summerslam, some free plug at UFC 200.
Lesnar steps back into the Octagon for the first time since losing to Alistair Overeem in 2011. Will he walk down the aisle with WWE manager Paul Heyman by his side and to his WWE entrance music as rumored?
Only time will tell.
