The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking to compete in the ACC once again this season, but their biggest hurdle they must overcome is losing quarterback Marquise Williams to graduation. However, rising junior Mitch Trubisky looks to take over for the team and have a big year.
Pro Football Focus certainly seems to believe in Trubisky as they recently listed out ten breakout quarterbacks for the 2015 season. He was one of them, making it seem like he could have a big year for the Tar Heels.
From the site:
“We are working off of an extremely small sample size with Trubisky, but his grades were simply so high on a per-snap basis that we felt we had to include him here. He only threw 47 passes all season, with 20 of those coming against FCS school Delaware, but he completed 40 for six touchdowns and zero interceptions. That included 11 of 16 throws 10 or more yards downfield. Between Trubisky and Elijah Hood, one of the most underrated running backs in the country, there is plenty of reason for optimism for the Tar Heels offense this year.”
Mitch Trubisky, a redshirt junior, certainly is looking to make a big move for the Tar Heels. During the 2015 season, he played in nine games and threw just 40 passes.
However, those passes went for 555 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns.
