Four-star cornerback Elijah Blades is a native to Pac-12 country, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be playing college football for the conference. With his commitment announcement that he made via Twitter on Friday, Blades opted for an SEC team – the Florida Gators.
Blades is one of the best at his position in the nation, ranking N0. 26 of the 2017 class, according to 247sports.com. In choosing the Gators, he passes over ten other offers from other top programs such as Nebraska, Arizona, BYU and Utah. He is currently the eighth player of the 2017 class to commit to Florida.
The 6-foot-2, 170 pound prospect currently attends John Muir High School in Pasadena, Calif., and was recruited by Florida’s Torrian Gray.
Other top-ranked prospects including wide receiver Daquon Green, quarterbacks Jake Allen and Kadarius Toney, tight end Kenmore Gamble, offensive tackle Kadeem Telfort and defensive tackles Javier Edwards and Jordon Scott make up the remainder of the 2017 Gators recruiting class.
