NBA Draft 2016: Barring trade, Lakers will select Brandon Ingram second overall

On Tuesday, it was reported that the Philadelphia 76ers will select LSU’s Ben Simmons with the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Now it seems the Los Angeles Lakers have found their guy in Duke’s Brandon Ingram.

The two players have been projected as the top two picks in the draft and it looks it will stay that way. It was reported by ESPN’s Chad Ford and Ramona Shelburne that barring a huge trade to acquire an “All-Star,” the Lakers would select Ingram with the second overall pick on Thursday.

Despite the possibility of getting a young and proven All-Star, the Lakers are set on picking Brandom Ingram at this point in the draft. The team has reportedly contacted new head coach Luke Walton and he is on board with selectig the Duke star.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens with the Lakers and Ingram on Thursday. The NBA Draft begins at 7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.
