NBA Draft 2016: Recapping the lottery picks

The lottery has come and gone and there were some pretty surprising picks in the first 14 picks at the Barclays Center. The 2016 NBA Draft gave fans some unpredictable picks and trades, especially outside of the top eight picks in the draft.

The first two picks didn’t surprise anyone as Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram went No. 1 and No.2 respectively. The rest of the 14 picks were a mystery going into the draft on Thursday and there were also some big trades made.

Here is the full recap of the lottery picks in the 2016 NBA Draft:

1. Philadelphia 76ers: Ben Simmons, LSU
2. Los Angeles Lakers: Brandon Ingram, Duke
3. Boston Celtics: Jaylen Brown, Cal
4. Phoenix Suns: Dragan Bender, Croatia
5. Minnesota Timberwolves: Kris Dunn, Providence
6. New Orleans Pelicans: Buddy Hield, Oklahoma
7. Denver Nuggets: Jamal Murray, Kentucky
8. Sacramento Kings: Marquese Chriss, Washington (traded to Suns, receive No. 13, No. 28 and Bogdan Bogdanovic)
9. Toronto Raptors: Jakob Poeltl, Utah
10. Milwaukee Bucks: Thon Maker, Australia
11. Orlando Magic: Domantas Sabonis, Gonzaga (traded to Thunder with Victor Oladipo and Ersan Ilyasova, receive Serge Ibaka)
12. Utah Jazz (for Atlanta Hawks): Taurean Prince, Baylor
13. Phoenix Suns: Georgios Papagiannis, Greece (traded to Kings)
14. Chicago Bulls: Denzel Valentine, Michigan State
