Florida State AD Stan Wilcox receives promotion, extension

The Florida State Seminoles athletic department has experienced plenty of success in recent years, so one of the leaders is getting rewarded. This weekend, it was announced that university athletic director Stan Wilcox has signed a two-year contract extension.

With the new extension, Wilcox’s current contract with the university extends to 2020.

“We are fortunate to have Stan Wilcox, and this contract extension and promotion to vice president reflects our support and appreciation of the job he and his staff have done and our excitement about the future of Florida State athletics,” FSU president John Thrasher said in a statement.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Wilcox did pick up the new title of vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics.

“I would like to thank President Thrasher for his faith in me and the opportunity to continue building the very strong brand that is Florida State athletics,” Wilcox said. “It is an exciting time to be a Seminole, and it is an honor to work with and for so many fine coaches, student-athletes and partners throughout the university community.”

If Florida State athletics continue to compete for national titles across the board, the Seminoles and their loyal fan base will continue to want Wilcox leading the way.
