Ex-Syracuse commit DE Gabe Sherrod chooses Michigan State

Delaware State defensive end Gabe Sherrod, who was previously committed to the Syracuse football program, has decided to make the move to the Michigan State Spartans as a graduate transfer.

Sherrod made the announcement Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.

Last season at the FCS level, the 6-foot-4, 255-pound Sherrod recorded 64 tackles, 25 for loss, and eight sacks. Sherrod also recorded 2.3 tackles for loss per game which was good enough for second-place in the nation.

Now that Sherrod is officially set to bring his talents to the FBS this season, it will be interesting to see if he continues to flash that potential against tougher competition.

Michigan State opens its 2016 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 17 against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend.
