Top 2017 JUCO WR Brandon Martin de-commits from Auburn

Last Friday, top-ranked junior college wide receiver for the 2017 season Brandon Martin committed to play for the Auburn Tigers. However, he didn’t seem to be too sure about his decision and on Thursday, he took to Twitter and confirmed that he had de-committed from playing with the Tigers next year.

His tweet mentioned that the Tigers are still on his list for recruitment and then gave a shoutout to his current team, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs.

This could have something to do with wanting to focus on the 2016 season before actually making a final decision.

Martin spoke with al.com and had a pretty simple answer about why he had committed to Auburn at all.

I felt like I was at home and they do everything as a team and as a family,” he said.

Brandon Martin originally signed with LSU coming out of Prime Prep Academy in Texas for the 2015 season, but he failed to qualify academically. He made his way to the Gulf Coast and will now have two years of eligibility left to play at the FBS level starting with the 2017 season.

In addition to Auburn, he has offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa State, Louisville and Mississippi State, among others.
