Gennady Golovkin set to face Kell Brook on September 10th

The top middleweight in the world Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is making his first trip to England on September 10th to take on welterweight world champion Kell Brook at the 02 Arena in London, reported by both negotiating parties.

Promoters for both sides had been trying to schedule a duel between Chris Eubank Jr. and GGG, but according to Golovkin’s team at K2 promotions, Eubank Jr. had second thoughts about the fight and ultimately decided to back out.

Eddie Hearn, who promotes both Eubank Jr. and Brook, flipped the script and offered the fight to Brook who agreed within minutes and allowed the fight to be finalized in under 24 hours.

“This is the fight and the moment I have been waiting for for some time. We’ve tried and tried to lure the best to come and fight me and now we’ve got the best of the best, the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world is coming to the U.K.”

While Golovkin’s ultimate quest for all the major middleweight titles will be put on hold, a fight against the undefeated Brook should boost Golovkin’s brand in the United States and internationally.

“I’m very excited to be fighting in front of the great British boxing fans and promise another ‘big drama show’ against Kell Brook,” Golovkin said.

Fans can expect an exciting fight from two of the top boxers in the world this September and you can watch the fight on regular HBO or Sky Box Office pay-per-view in England.
