Late Wednesday night, it was reported that Jon Jones would be pulled from the main event at UFC 200 due to a potential anti-doping violation. Like the fans, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was crushed when President Dana White broke the news.
During the latest episode of “UFC Embedded” ahead of Saturday’s monster event, White sat down with Cormier and told him that Jones had been flagged. Cormier angrily stomped his foot and was understandably upset about the news after he had trained for months for his rematch against Jones.
Daniel Cormier did nearly everything he could to keep the fight with Jones on the card and even suggested signing a release to fight him. White, unfortunately, could not fulfill that request and it looked like he would not have a fight on Saturday.
However, it was announced late Thursday night that Jones would be replaced by mixed martial arts legend Anderson Silva.
While it may not be the main event title fight everyone has wanted for nearly a year, it should still be a very entertaining fight for all to see this week.
