Chad Johnson lands gig as Browns assistant receivers coach

Chad Johnson, more commonly known to NFL fans as Chad Ochocinco, is set to return to the National Football League. Well, kind of.

On Tuesday, it was reported that the former All-Pro wide receiver would be joining the Cleveland Browns. However, he will not be suiting up for the team that was a long-time division rival of his Cincinnati Bengals during his playing career. Instead, Johnson will be accepting an assistant coaching job with the franchise.

TMZ Sports reported the news.

Johnson will assist the team’s wide receivers during training camp.

According to the report, Johnson reached out to new Browns head coach Hue Jackson, who is a former Bengals assistant, to ask about potentially receiving a job. Much to his surprise, Jackson was happy to oblige.

While the assistant job is only going to last the length of the preseason, it doesn’t look like Ochocinco will walk away without a fight.

Johnson told TMZ, “I’m not leaving!”

I guess we will just have to wait and see.
